The Crossroads Between Should and Must

One of my life long themes is that everything happens for a reason. Every little event and choice made accumulates at the present time to make you the person you are, in the situation you are in. Novels capitalize on the eternal theme of "good vs evil" or following your dream despite what others say or even just being yourself.
In real life, where there aren't necessarily results of "and they lived happily ever after", there comes a time where you must choose whether or not to truly live. You may live 100 years, but only live a fraction of it. By living, I mean fulfilling your life's purpose. Now I'm not here to preach any religion or persuade you to live like me because that would end in disaster, only I can live the way I do, because it is my life, created by all the little moments.    When you live, you do what you feel you must. This feeling of must stems out from your true purpose in life, but here Ellen Luna says it best: "Must comes from somewhere deep inside of us, a beautiful truth that calls to us from within... Should comes from the place we call home, the people we love, the world we’ve created—the people, places, and things that define us." This comparison is so abstract and existential, yet it is attainable by anyone. The meaning of this can only be defined in a couple of different ways, and that is how you know when you find a truth in life; when you can only find one explanation. The things we "should" do are often based on societal expectations or obligations, yet "must" is a manifestation of what we personally feel we should do. These two options couldn't exist without the other, and that is where we return to the theme of good vs evil, neither is independent. The things we should do, are the things we are expected to must do, where the things we must do grows from our personal beliefs of what we should do; it is our personal obligation to the world and ourselves.
By imagining the person we want to be tomorrow, we must first do what we must do today, to do those personal obligations and passions today, because everything flows into each other. No matter how large we grow, there is still one universal truth: you can't have a canyon without all the little streams, stimulated by some force doing what it "must".
